Name of Company

Yorkshire Water Services Ltd

Why did you decide to go for Investing in Volunteers for Employers (IiVE)?

Yorkshire Water has an established volunteering programme with over 30% of colleagues taking part on an annual basis. Our main driver was to benchmark our activity against best practice and take the opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to volunteering both within the business environment and throughout the communities we serve.

What benefits have you found from working towards IiVE?

We have been able to put time aside to go through our procedures and ensure that we do follow best practice guidelines. As we were the first corporate to achieve IiVE, we’ve also had the opportunity to share our experiences with others and help individuals develop their programmes to a higher standard.

Tell us about your experience of the assessment process in your company.

As our procedures were already quite advanced, we found the assessment process very easy to manage. We had a lot of evidence just through the normal day to day running of the business, and the relatively small improvements suggested were very easily incorporated into working life.

The interview days were very exciting and we had lots of eager volunteers wanting to share their stories about the good work being undertaken throughout the company.
